CG's interview with Red FM 93.1 Vancouver  (April 12, 2021)

Consul General Mr. Manish gave an interview on 12th April, 2021 to Red FM 93.1 radio and gave an overview of new changes in OCI card rules, Consular activities of the Consulate in the backdrop of the pandemic and an overview of the #IndiaAt75 – #AzadiKaAmritMahotsav celebrations to celebrate 75th Anniversary of India's Independence on 15th August, 2022. Virtual Meeting with Kannada Kuta of BC (April 13, 2021) 
As part of our community outreach, Consul General Mr. Manish along with Consul Mr. Manjish Grover had a virtual interaction with Ms. Jayalakshmi Ravindra, Mr. Girish Chandra and Mr. Ravindra of Kannada Kuta of BC on April 13, 2021. Ms. Jayalakshmi Ravindra and other Members gave an overview of the Kannada community in BC and the work that the Association is doing. Kannada Kuta of BC has also been associated for many years with the Consulate in promoting Indian performing arts and cultural heritage and have actively participated in 'Namaste Canada' since its inception. Appreciating their long standing partnership and role as an important Indo-Canadian Association, Consul General Manish called upon the Kannada Kuta and its Members to be part of the ongoing #IndiaAt75 celebrations and partner with the Consulate in the coming months to celebrate together the #AzadiKaAmritMahotsav.

Ambedkar Jayanti Celebrations (April 14, 2021)
On occasion of #AmbedkarJayanti Consul General Shri Manish paid floral tributes to Bharat Ratna Dr. B R Ambedkar at the Consulate. A virtual Ceremony commemorating Dr #Ambedkar's birthday was organized by Consulate in partnership with Shri Guru Ravidass Sabha, Vancouver; Chetna Association of Canada and Ambedkarite International Mission Society, Calgary. The virtual celebrations was attended by Hon Bruce Ralston, Minister of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation, British Columbia; Hon Sav Dhaliwal, Councillor, Burnaby City Council and representatives of partner organizations. Consul General welcomed the guests and highlighted the contributions of Dr B. R. Ambedkar and thanked Government of British Columbia and Burnaby City Council to proclaim 14 April 2021 as “ Dr B. R. Ambedkar Day of Equality “. All the guests highlighted the contribution of Babasaheb in fostering equality in the society and his visionary leadership which gave India its Constitution. During the virtual celebrations a short film “Mooknayak” on the life of Babasaheb was played and a video message from Mayor of Calgary Hon Naheed Nenshi was also played. The highlight of the celebration was proclamation by Province of British Columbia and Burnaby City Council declaring 14 April 2021 as “Dr B.R.Ambedkar Day of Equality”.

Virtual Meeting with SFU (April 15, 2021)
Consul General Mr. Manish attended the virtual meeting of Simon Fraser University - India Advisory Committee Meeting held on 15 April 2021. The meeting was chaired by SFU President Dr. Joy Johnson and was attended by Committee members and officials of SFU. The committee reviewed the ongoing engagements between India and SFU in the field of higher education, research and academic exchanges. It was noted that the interest of Indian students to seek admission in SFU continues to grow. Discussion focused on organizing events related to startup sector, business and culture. The Students of SFU has planned to organize ‘India Day’ celebrations on 11 September 2021 in partnership of Consulate. The India day celebrations will be dedicated to #IndiaAt75 and will be part of #AzadiKaAmritMahotsav

Virtual Meeting with Team Srijani (April 15, 2021) 
Consul General Mr. Manish had a follow up meeting with the TeamS rijani - Dr. Sweta Sinha, Ms. Archana Panda, Dr. Shipra Shilpi and Ms. Prachi Randhawa on April 15, 2021 regarding India@75 Aazadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. Team Srijani came up with their plan of events to celebrate the diversity and grandeur of Aazadi ka Amrit Mahotsav in the coming weeks in partnership with Consulate General of India.
