Inauguration of World Malayalee Council British Columbia Province

Hon. Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs Shri. V. Muraleedharan in a virtual event organized on 6 March 2021 inaugurated the World Malyalee Council - British Columbia Province (WMC-BC) and delivered key note address. The event saw participation of WMC members from American region and India. Consul General of India Shri. Manish also participated in the event. Shri. Murleedharan lauded the role of Indian diaspora in promoting relationship between India and their host countries and the achievements of Indian diaspora. He advised the WMC members to take advantage of various socio-economic programmes of Government of India and contribute to making India self reliant. He also outlined Government’s economic policies, the steps taken by India to manage COVID-19 pandemic, including vaccination programme and helping global community through Vaccine Maitri.

Inaugural Ceremony of Malayalam School - Nammalude Pallikkudam
Consul General Mr Manish participated in the Virtual Inaugural ceremony of Malayalam School (Nammalude Pallikkudam) on 12 March, which was organized in association with Malayalam Mission of the State Government of Kerala. Malayalam belongs to the Dravidian family of languages and is spoken by people from Kerala. In a bid to propagate the language worldwide, the Government of Kerala, under its Department of Culture, started the Malayalam Mission initiative. British Columbia Minister Mr Bruce Ralston also spoke on the occasion. Malayalam mission Director Professor Suja Susan George also participated in the event.

India's Forex Reserves surpass Russia's to become World's 4th largest. India’s reserves, enough to cover roughly 18 months of imports, have been bolstered by a current-account surplus, rising inflows into the local stock market and foreign direct investment.

 

During the current Kharif marketing season (KMS), 679.65 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been purchased so far. About 99.74 lakh farmers have been paid Rs 1,28,319.44 crore on the minimum support price for the paddy purchased so far.
