75th Independence Day Celebrations
(August 15, 2021)

75th Independence Day celebrated with patriotic fervor at Consulate General of India, Vancouver. Consul General Manish hoisted ‘Tiranga’ and read out Address of Hon'ble President. Members of Indian Ex-Sevrvicemen Society of British Columbia also took part in the celebrations.

Independence Day Celebrations at Laxmi Narayan Mandir, Surrey (August 15, 2021)

Consul General Shri Manish unfurled the national flag at the premises of the Laxmi Narayan Mandir, Surrey to celebrate the 75th Independence Day of India. The function was graced by diaspora members, Indo-Canadians, Member of Parliaments, Mayor of Surrey, Councillors of Surrey and friends of India & Canada and the board members of the Temple. Apart from speeches by the dignitaries present, the highlight of the event was cultural performances by diaspora children.

Independence Day Celebrations at Regina, Saskatchewan (August 15, 2021)

The India Canada Associations of Saskatchewan (ICA) celebrated India’s 75th Independence Day in partnership with Gujarati Samaj of Saskatchewan on Sunday August 15, 2021 at Regina.

Tiranga Car Rally (August 15, 2021)

On the occasion of 75th Independence Day of India, Friends of Canada India Organisation (President Maninder Gill and Secretary Nima Marnal) and Gurukul Society (Sidharath) organized a celebration program at Lakshmi Narayan Mandir, Surrey. Consul General Manish attended this program. The Mayor of Surrey City Doug Macullum, Counselor Blinda Locke, Counsellor Mandeep Nagra, M.P Tamara Jhonson , M.P Carey Lin Finley, Conservative Candidate Satbir Gill and other prominent dignitaries of the community attended this program. Consul General Manish hoisted Indian National Flag. A cultural program was also organized. Consul General also flagged off the car rally, which started from Surrey and ended at the Consulate General of India in Vancouver. More than 200 cars participated in the rally.

“Sur Utsav-Azadi kay Rung Tarango kay Sung” (August 15, 2021)

Kalakar Junction Foundation in partnership with Consulate General of India, Vancouver, organized a cultural event “Sur Utsav-Azadi kay Rung Tarango kay Sung” to commemorate 75th Independence Day of India - Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on 15th August 2021. Ms. Anshula Gaur, Coordinator of Kalakar Junction Foundation, along with other Directors Mr. Tusheer Kapila and Sandeep Jassal, welcomed Consul General Mr. Manish and thanked the Consulate for participating in the event. Consul General inaugurated the event and thanked Kalakar Junction Foundation for partnering with the Consulate to organize the cultural event to commemorate 75th Independence Day of India. Ms. Tejaswita Mohan hosted the event. The event began with the presentation of ‘Ganesh Vandana’ (Bharat Natyam) by Ms. Ruchi Sridhar and Ms. Satvika Suresha, which was Choreographed by Ms. Jayalaxmi Ravindra. Child artist Ms. Bhargavi Singh presented melodious rendition. Ms. Neeraja Aptikar, renowned vocalist, presented Sufi songs. Mr. Amarjit Singh on Tabla and Mr. Baljit Singh on Dilruba instrument presented fantastic musical instrumental performances, which were well acclaimed by the audiences.

Meeting with Minister Bruce Ralston (August 16, 2021)

Consul General had a meeting with Hon Bruce Ralston, Minister of Energy and Minister in charge of Consular Corps. Minister congratulated India on behalf of the Provincial on the 75th Independence Day India. The discussion focussed on the priorities of the Consulate for enhancing economic engagement; the ways both side to cooperate in increasing trade and investment and the problem being faced by Indian students to arrive in Canada due to flight restrictions.  

75th Independence Day of India celebrations (August 17, 2021)

Consul General Manish participated in a function on 17 August 2021 organized by Indian diaspora members to celebrate the 75th Independence Day of India. During the event CG interacted with a cross section of the members of Indian diaspora in Vancouver and also delivered an address. There was a short cultural performances by diaspora artists which included Bhangra and Kuchipudi dances, and a fashion show on weaves of India. The event was attended by about 200 guests.   

The City Hall Vancouver, Burrard Bridge, Vancouver, The McDougall Centre, Calgary, Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium, Calgary, Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium, Edmonton, Reconciliation Bridge in Calgary were illuminated in the colors of the Indian National Flag to commemorate the 75th Independence Day of India - Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
