Meeting with Major Alan Craighead 
(August 21, 2021)

Consul General Manish and his spouse met Major Alan Craighead on 21st August 2021 and conveyed to him greetings on his 100th birthday on behalf of people of India and his regiment. Major Craighead had served in Skinner’s Horse regiment of the Armoured Corps of the Indian Army. Consul General conveyed to Major Craighead greetings and felicitation on behalf of Indian Army and General Vijay Kumar Singh, former Chief of Indian Army. Consul General also handed him a letter of greetings and felicitation from High Commissioner of India to Canada H.E. Ajay Bisaria, a special birthday cake and flowers. Major Craighead’s family had organized his 100th birthday celebrations at Roberts Creek, BC. Major Craighead along with his spouse in 2003 had travelled to India to participate in bicentenary of the Skinner’s Horse(1803-2003).

Independence Day of India celebrations by FOI, Vancouver (August 21, 2021)

The Friends of India Association of British Columbia celebrated the Independence Day of India on Saturday, 21st August, 2021 as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in association with the Consulate General of India. The event was attended by Mr. Manjish Grover, Consul (Commerce, PIC) and Head of Chancery. The event brought together the office bearers and members of the Friends of India Association and their family members. Mrs. Vanita Puri, President welcomed the guests and chalked out the path forward for the association. Mrs. Nalini Bhui put together and presented the cultural program of the event that included beautiful performances of tradition Indian dance forms by children and young adults. Mr. Grover welcomed the initiative taken by the association to be part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and the opportunity for the Consulate to partner in more such events going forward. Mr. Ajay Patel, President of the Vancouver Community College was one of the prominent guests invited to the event.

Memento Presentation to Yoga Gurus (August 24, 2021)

Consul General Manish presented mementos to Dr. Claudia Rangel Bussanich, Brahma Kumaris Vancouver and Dr. Aravindhan Ravindran, Heartfulness Vancouver in recognition to their contribution for successful conduct of curtain raiser and main International Day of Yoga events in
May-June 2021.

100th Birthday of Mr. Khushi Ram (August 24, 2021)

Mr. Khushi Ram, a resident of Vancouver and an erstwhile officer in the Indian Central Government Services, celebrated a landmark - his 100th Birthday on 20th August, 2021. High Commissioner Mr. Ajay Bisaria sent special greetings from Ottawa for Mr. Khushi Ram which were delivered to him by Consul Manjish Grover who met Mr. Khushi Ram to convey birthday wishes and many happy returns of the day. Mr. Khushi Ram had an illustrious career in the Indian Government from where he retired in 1979. He arrived in Canada in 1986 and has been living in Vancouver ever since.

Consul General was pleased to meet LULULEMON VP, International Technology & Head India Tech Hub Seshan Vaidyanathan in Vancouver on 24th August, 2021. Lululemon has plans to invest in India and are setting up a Tech Center in Bengaluru. 

Meeting with Mr. Nasir Karnai (August 26, 2021)

Consul General Manish met Mr. Nasir Karnai, President of Explore India Journeys Inc on 26th August, 2021 and discussed ideas to promote tourism between Canada and India in the post pandemic period.
