Consular Camp at Regina (September 4-5, 2021)

The Consulate General of India organized a Consular camp in Regina, Saskatchewan during 04-05 September 2021. A total number of 251 services were provided at the camp during the two days. The Consulate wishes to thank the India Canada Association of Saskatchewan for the excellent arrangements made by them for the camp, which ensured its smooth conduct.

Onam Celebrations (September 4, 2021)

Consul, Mr. Manjish Grover (Chief-Guest) along with Mr. Alan Varghese Mathew, participated in the Onam 2021 Celebration organized by Phoenix Richmond Malayalee Association on September 4th at Richmond. Mr. Henry Yao, MLA for Richmond South Centre, Richmond City Mayor Mr. Malcolm Brodie, RCMP Officer Mr. Jason Jose also attended the event. Consul Mr. Manjish Grover extended the greetings to the community members on the occasion of Onam. A cultural programme and chendamelam was also performed by the members of Phoenix Richmond.

Meeting with Mayor, City of Regina (September 5, 2021)

Consul Mr. Virender Jatav, Consul Mr. G. Ajith Kumar and Vice Consul Mr. Dilber Singh had a wonderful meeting with Mayor Sandra Masters, City of Regina during the Consular Team visit to Regina. Consul Mr. Virender Jatav presented a book on Yoga to Mayor Sandra Masters.

Books Presentation to Hindu Temple, Regina (September 5, 2021)

During the Consular Camp visit to Regina, Consul Mr. G. Ajith Kumar, along with Consul Virender Jatav and Vice Consul Mr. Dilber Singh, visited Hindu Temple Regina and presented books on Indian cultural heritage to Mr. Ranjith Narayasamy, President of The Hindu Temple, Regina and Board Members of the Temple.

Teacher's Day and Hindi Day Celebrations (September 5, 2021)

मनस्विनी और आगाज़ ए महफ़िल संस्थाएं, जो हिंदी भाषा को प्रोत्साहन एवं हिंदी का प्रचार एवं प्रसार करती हैं, के सहयोग से कांसुलेट जनरल ऑफ़ इंडिया, वैंकुवर ने ५ सितम्बर २०२१ को "शिक्षक दिवस" एवं "हिंदी दिवस" आयोजित किया जिसका कांसुलेट एवं मनस्विनी के फेसबुक पर सीधा प्रसारण किया गया । शिक्षक दिवस का शीर्षक था "हिन्दी भाषा की शक्ति और गुरु की भक्ति। कार्यक्रम की मेजबानी श्रीमती अस्मिता लॉरेंस और श्रीमती शिखा पोरवाल ने की और हिंदी में कविताएँ सुनाई। कौंसुल (संस्कृति) श्री राजिंदर कुमार ने श्रीमती अस्मिता लॉरेंस और श्रीमती शिखा पोरवाल, संस्थापिका, मनस्विनी संस्था एवं श्रीमती अनुपम मिठास, आगाज ई महफिल की संस्थापक को शिक्षक दिवस और हिंदी दिवस कांसुलेट जनरल ऑफ़ ऑफ़ इंडिया, वैंकुवर की भागीदारी से आयोजित करने के लिए धन्यवाद दिया। श्रीमती आनंद पाटनी, श्रीमती कादम्बरी आदेश, श्रीमती सारिका फ्लोरा, श्री अजय गोयल और श्री धर्मवीर शर्मा जो हिंदी कवित्री एवं कवि हैं उन्होने शिक्षकों के सम्मान में हिंदी में विभिन्न कविताएं सुनाई और शिक्षकों के योगदान की सराहना और प्रशंशा की।

Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (September 5, 2021)

Consul Mr. Surjeet Singh participated in an event “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”, organized by a joint committee of diverse diaspora communities in Lower Mainland on Sunday, 05 September 2021 in Surrey, BC. The main focus of the event was to showcase India’s cultural diversity under one umbrella and to bring different communities in one platform and celebrate this diversity that despite representing different parts of India binds us together and makes us a proud nation – India.

Meeting with Mr. Cassius Khan (September 10, 2021)

Consul General Manish was pleased to receive leading diaspora artists Mr. Cassius Khan, Tabla player & Indian classical singer and Ms. Amika Kushwaha, Katharine exponent and harmonium player. Discussion focussed on cooperation to organize cultural events in partnership with the two artists in order to celebrate AzadiKaAmritMahotsav. Cassius Khan informed about his flagship program Mushtari Begum Festival and its 10th edition which would be celebrated on 25 September 2021. CG congratulated Mr. Khan and Ms. Kushwaha on the 10th anniversary of the festival and commended their efforts to promote Indian classical music and dance through the festival and envisaged interest in organizing events with them and other diaspora artists. Discussion also focused on reviving Namaste Canada, a flagship cultural extravaganza of Consulate which got discounted due to COVID 19 pandemic. CG accepted the invitation to be part of the Mushtari Begum Festival being held on 25 September 2021.

Meeting with AIMCO & Invest India (September 13, 2021)

Consul General Manish participated in a virtual meeting on 13 September, 2021 between Mr. Ben Hawkins, Senior Vice President, Infrastructure & Renewable Resources, Alberta’s Investment Management Co. (AIMCO) with Invest India Team to discuss investment opportunities available in India. Consul General Mr. Manish in his remarks gave an overview of investment opportunities in India. Mr. Rahul Agarwal, Vice President, Co Lead - Financial Investors Initiative, Infrastructure, Real Estate & Energy of Invest India gave a detailed presentation on investment opportunities in infrastructure, national highways & roads, pipelines, renewable energy, private equity investment etc. He also briefed on the huge upcoming investment opportunities available in India in areas like railway stations, airports, ports etc. Mr. Ben Hawkins thanked the Invest India Team for organizing the meeting and and also gave brief details of AIMCO’s operations, ongoing projects and investments in various sectors and expressed his desire to expand his business in India.

Meeting with Lt Governor of British Columbia (September 13, 2021)

High Commissioner of India to Canada HE Ajay Bisaria, accompanied by Mrs Bharati Chautervedi and Consul General Manish called on Hon Lt Governor of British Columbia Janet Austin today in Vancouver. During the meeting both sides discussed a wide ranging issues of bilateral, regional and global concerns. There were some interesting exchanges on health and economic issues during COVID pandemic, sustainable development and climate change, circular economy etc.

Saragrahi Battle Honor (September 13, 2021)

Remembering the incredible battle of Saragrahi fought by 21 young brave Sikh soldiers of 36 Sikh regiment (now 4 Sikh regiment) who gave up their lives in devotion of their duty on 12 September 1897. Consul General Manish was honoured to take part in the celebrations to remember the fallen soldiers in the Saragrahi battle organized by Indian Ex-Servicemen Society of British Columbia. It was a day of remembrance of our unsungheroes and veterans in the year when we celebrate AzadiKaAmritMahotsav.

Meeting with Speaker Raj Chouhan (September 14, 2021)

High Commissioner Ajay Bisaria and Consul General called on Hon Raj Chouhan, Speaker of British Columbia in his office in Victoria on September 14, 2021. Both sides discussed issues of mutual interest and steps to further strengthen relationship between India and British Columbia. High Commissioner complimented Hon Speaker on the important role played by him in his political and public life and his achievements to become first Indian origin Speaker of British Columbia.

Meeting with BC Investment Management Corp. (September 14, 2021)

High Commissioner Ajay Bisaria & Consul General Manish met Gordon Fyfe, CEO/CIO of BC Investment Management Corporation and discussed opportunities to invest in India.

Meeting with University of Calgary (September 15, 2021)

Consul General Manish held a virtual meeting today with Dr. Janaka Ruwanpura, Vice Provost and Associate VP Research (International), Ms. Andrea Morrow, Director International Relations, Ms. Uli Ng, Manager, Global Partnerships and Ms. Faye Salins, Intercultural and Protocol specialist of University of Calgary and discussed ongoing cooperation in education spheres, as well as ways to further strengthen it.
