India Day - Virtual Cultural Event
(July 18, 2021)

Council of India Societies of Edmonton in association with Consulate General of India, Vancouver, organized a virtual cultural event on 18 July, 2021, as part of celebration of #IndiaAt75 #AzadiKaAmrutMahotsav. President Mrs. Gunjan Sharma, Vice President Communication Ms. Bindu Kannan and Vice President Programme Ms. Rashmi Sinha hosted the programme. The event began with the presentation on the life of Subhash Chandra Bose by Mr. Rutvah Patel. Ms. Ananya presented Lord Krishna Vandana. Mr. Allan Mathur and Ms. Arshiya Mathur sang the National Anthem of India. Ms. Rashmi Sinha and her team presented a Rajasthani folk dance. Kuchipudi dance was presented by Ms. Bhumi and Mr. Anupam Shrivastava sang a patriotic song. Ms. Maheeshi, Mr. Allison and Ms. Bhaveesha presented a folk dance. A short documentary on Nalanda University was also played. Consul General Mr. Manish extended his greetings to all members of CISE and participants for partnering with the Consulate for taking lead to commemorate the India@75 Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav. Consul General also thanked CISE for facilitating the Consular Camps being organized by the Consulate.

NSS BC Anniversary Celebrations (July 18, 2021)

Nair Service Society of British Columbia in partnership with Consulate General of India, Vancouver, celebrated the 1st Anniversary of the Society and organized a cultural programme on 18 July, 2021 as part of celebration of “India@75 – Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav”. Consul General Mr. Manish inaugurated the event and launched the e-Souvenir of the Society "Mayukham (മയൂഖം). The President of the Society Mr. Thampanoor Mohan welcomed and thanked the Consul General Mr. Manish for participating and inaugurating in the event. The members of the Indian Diaspora and their children performed various traditional dances and sang songs including National Anthem of India to commemorate India@75. Consul General Mr. Manish also thanked the Society for partnering with the Consulate to celebrate India@75 – Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav and other cultural events.

Meeting with Mr. Peter Dhillon (July 20, 2021)

High Commissioner of India to Canada Mr. Ajay Bisaria and Consul General of India in Vancouver Mr. Manish had a good discussion with Mr. Peter Dhillon, the Cranberry King, who is President & CEO of the Richberry Group of Companies and has investment plans in India.

Meeting with Mr. Jim Pattison (July 20, 2021)

High Commissioner of India to Canada Mr. Ajay Bisaria and Consul General of India in Vancouver Mr. Manish had candid and frank discussions on India-Canada economic partnership with Mr. Jim Pattison, Owner, CEO and Chairman of Jim Pattison Group and prospects of his company doing business with India.

High Commissioner of India to Canada Mr. Ajay Bisaria and Mr. Ajay Patel, President and CEO of Vancouver Community College exchanged the views and ideas on strengthening India-Canada Education cooperation through skill training and mobility of students in pandemic times.

Meeting with Ms. Tamara Vrooman (July 21, 2021)

High Commissioner of India to Canada Mr. Ajay Bisaria had a productive exchange of views with Vancouver Airport President & CEO Ms. Tamara Vrooman on start of India-Canada direct air connectivity; mobility of Indian students & plans of Air India to fly long term to YVR, ongoing cooperation with SFU in her capacity as Chancellor of SFU.

Meeting with Dr. Joy Johnson (July 21, 2021)

High Commissioner of India to Canada Mr. Ajay Bisaria met with SFU President Dr. Joy Johnson and reviewed India-SFU Education partnership, strategy for Indian student mobility to Canada in COVID times, startup & innovation, academic exchanges, Setting up India Chair and celebrating India@75 Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav.

High Commissioner of India to Canada Mr. Ajay Bisaria had a productive meeting with Canfor Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing Mr. Kevin Pankratz and discussed India's growth story, post COVID and prospects of lumber business with India.

Networking Event with Indo-Canadian CEOs of Companies in Greater Vancouver (July 21, 2021)

High Commissioner of India to Canada Mr. Ajay Bisaria along with Consul General of India in Vancouver Mr. Manish held a Business Roundtable Networking event with Chief Executive Officers of prominent companies of Indian heritage in Canada on 21st July, 2021. Mr. Ajay Bisaria is currently on official visit to Vancouver. The Business Roundtable Networking event provided immense opportunities to both sides to discuss bilateral trade, commerce, investment, mobility and other issues of interest. High Commissioner Shri Bisaria gave detailed overview of strategic relations between India and Canada and the focus on trade and investment. He also briefed the CEOs about the COVID-19 pandemic situation in India and the fastest recovery after the pandemic. Consul General Mr. Manish, while welcoming the CEOs, also appreciated their role in enhancing bilateral and economic relations between India and Canada. Consul General Mr. Manish also requested the CEOs to take lead to celebrate ‘India@75 – AzadiKaAmrutMahotsav” in partnership with the Consulate. All the participating CEOs welcomed the proposal and assured their participation in the India@75 events being organized by the Consulate.

Meeting with MP's (July 22, 2021)

High Commissioner of India to Canada Mr. Ajay Bisaria and Consul General of India in Vancouver Mr. Manish had an engaging conversation with Hon'ble MP Mr. Sukh Dhaliwal, Member of Parliament for Surrey and Mr. Randeep S. Sarai, Member of Parliament for Surrey Centre. They discussed wide range of issues including promoting India-Canada partnership.
