Carnatic Vocal Concert 
(July 25, 2021)

The Consulate General of India, Vancouver collaborated with Sangeeta Maruti Arts Academy to present the Carnatic vocal debut concert of Ms. Lalitha Ananya, a young proponent of Carnatic vocal music and a disciple of Dr. Vidyasagar Vankayala. Ananya was accompanied by Dr. Jared Burrows on Guitar and Dr. Curtis Andrews on Mridangam. The concert was held at the Pocco Inns & Suites Hotel & Conference Center in Port Coquitlam on 25th July, 2021 in a hybrid format. It was presented as part of the India@75 - AzadiKaAmritMahotsav celebrations. Mr. Manjish Gorver, Consul (Culture, Commerce) and Head of Chancery at the Consulate attended the concert. In his address he emphasized the importance of nurturing Indian Arts and Culture as well as the initiative by the Govt. of India as a part of #India@75 celebrations. Other chief guests and speakers of the program included Mayor of the City of Coquitlam Richard Stewart, KVP Entertainers CEO - Kamal Sharma, Gamar Leadership Group CEO - Adel Gamar and Sunita Amma Founder of Peace Tree Sookshma Center for Wellness and Oneness. The concert was curated in an easy to follow style which provided a good appreciation of Carnatic vocal music to the local audience.

Meeting with Ex-Servicemen Association (July 26, 2021)

Consul General Manish interacted with office bearers and members of Ex-Servicemen Association of Vancouver. #VaristhYodha representing Armed Forces of 🇮🇳. There are a large number of ex-servicemen living in Greater Vancouver Area and other parts of Canada. Discussion focused on their well being, providing consular services, planning celebrations of IndiaAt75 and activities to mark AzadiKaAmritMahotsav.

Farewell Meeting (July 26, 2021)

Consul General and officials from Consulate bid farewell to two colleagues - Mr. M. Venkatachalam, Consul who left Vancouver after completing his assignment and Smt. Hemlata Sharma our local colleague in Consular section retires after serving 19 years. We wish them all the very best and appreciate there contributions to prompting India-Canada partnership.

"Save our Pride" (July 30, 2021)

Srijani Global, USA, in partnership with Consulate General of India, Vancouver, organized a virtual event ‘Save our Prime: Save Tiger’ on the occasion of International Tiger Day on 30th July, 2021 as part of India@75 – Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Dr. Sweta Sinha of Srijani Global hosted the event and welcomed Consul General Mr. Manish Mr. Priya Ranjan Sinha, Former President of Wildlife Institute of India and Mr. Nirit Datta, Environmentalist. The event began with screening of a documentary on tiger conservation produced by Wildlife Conservation Trust, Mumbai. Consul General Mr. Manish thanked Srijani Global and other speakers Mr. Priya Ranjan Sinha and Mr. Nirit Datta for partnering with the Consulate to celebrate the International Tiger Day as part of India@75 - @AmritMahotsav and thereafter he gave a presentation on wild tiger conservation projects and protection of wild life programme run by the Government of India to save the tigers. A video on wild life sanctuaries in India produced by 'Incredible India' was also played. Mr. Priya Ranjan Sinha highlighted the importance of International Tiger Day and stressed on eco development system, formation of tiger task force, conservation schemes, engagement of NGOs etc. to save the wild tigers population. Mr. Nirit Datta dwelled upon the wild tiger conservation schemes.
