Consul General Manish had a delightful meeting with Mr.Glen Glee, CEO of The Shiamak Group, Vancouver. They discussed the plans to organize Bollywood Dance as Spirit Of India in Namaste Canada as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations in Vancouver

Shri Guru Ravidass Sabha, Burnaby celebrated 645th Birthday of Shri Guru Ravidass ji Maharaj. Consul General Mr. Manish was the chief guest of the function. He was welcomed by President of the Sabha Mr. Rick Toora and board members. Consul General conveyed greetings to the devotees and highlighted the life and teachings of Guru Ravidasji. The event was also attended by Mayor of city of Burnaby, His Lordship Mike Hurley; Hon Sukh Dhaliwal, MP; Hon Sav Dhaliwal Councillor.

The Consulate General of India, Vancouver, in collaboration with Trade Promotion Council of India, organized a webinar on Trade and Investment Opportunities between India and Western Canada with a sectoral focus on Food and Beverage on 22nd February, 2022. Consul General Mr. Manish gave the opening remarks. Other panelists included Consul (Commerce), Mr. Manjish Grover; CEO & President of Fruiticana' Chain of Supermarkets in BC & Alberta, Mr. Tony Singh; Vice President & Head of TPCI F&B Sectoral Committee, Mr. Abhishek Poddar; Jt. DG (TPCI) Mr. Suresh Makhijani and Director TPCI Mr. Ashok Sethi. The webinar was moderated by Mr. Virat Bahri, Deputy Director-Media and Corporate Communication, TPCI. Consul General Mr. Manish gave an overview of the bilateral trade between India and Canada and the growth opportunities that exist in exports to Canada in the F&B sector. He encouraged the Indian exporters to keenly look at the Canadian ethnic F&B market which is growing at a CAGR of 14-15%. Manjish Grover, Consul (Commerce) gave a presentation on opportunities and strategies for Indian exporters who want to target or expand in the Canadian F&B market. The comprehensive presentation included key insights on F&B market in Canada, major players in Western Provinces of BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan as well as an overview of local regulations. CEO and President of Fruiticana Mr. Tony Singh provided useful insights from an importer’ and industry perspective on opportunities and products including guidance on do’s and don’ts that exporters need to keep in mind. Vice President & TPCI F&B Sectoral Committee Mr. Abhishek Poddar highlighted the Government’s robust infrastructure to promote Indian food processing industry and opportunities of trade and investment in the sector. Mr. Ashok Sethi, Director, TPCI through his presentation highlighted India’s food processing technology and current exports to Canada. Consul General Manish had a meeting with Mr. Tony Singh, CEO, Fruiticana, Surrey where they discussed the strategies to increase the imports of Indian ethnic food items such as rice, spices, fresh Fruits and Vegetables ,organic products in Western Canada.

India is the 3rd largest biotech destination in the Asia Pacific Region

India - a biotech growth catalyst India is among the top 12 destinations for biotechnology globally and 3rd largest biotechnology destination in the Asia Pacific region. In 2020, the Biotech industry reached a market size of $ 70.2 Bn, rising 12.3% from the previous year. The bio economy has observed almost a 95% increase in valuation over the period of five years, with the COVID-19 pandemic boosting it even further. The Bio Economy’s contribution to the national GDP has also grown steadily in the past years. While the Bio Economy contributed to 1.7% of the GDP, this share has grown to 2.7% in 2020.The sector is also making an increasing contribution towards national GDP and is a key part of India’s vision of reaching a $ 5 Trillion Economy by 2024.

Adventure In Sky

Feel like a bird as you paraglide over spectacular landscapes and survey nature's bounty laid out in splendour beneath you. Nandi Hills, located about 70 km from the city of Bengaluru, Karnataka, is a great spot for paragliding while enjoying picturesque mountain vistas. Bir Billing, in the state of Himachal Pradesh, is probably the best place to paraglide in India. It offers you the opportunity to glide high up in the sky for 15-30 minutes with trained tandems. The best time to do this is between October and June. The popular hill station of Manali also gives visitors a chance to paraglide amidst all the other fun things to do. In western India, paragliding is a popular activity near the Pawana Dam, in Maharashtra.
