Vaisakhi celebrations at KDS Ross Street Gurudwara

 Consul General Manish joined the Vaisakhi 2022 celebrations at KDS Ross Street Gurudwara in Vancouver and conveyed his greetings. Founded in 1906 it the oldest and largest Gurudwara in North America providing great service to the community based on teachings of Sikh Gurus.

Celebration of Ugadi 2022

Vancouver Area Telugu Assoctiation (VATA) celebrated Ugadi 2022 as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with the participation of diaspora community on 15 April 2022. Consul General Manish was delighted to be a part of Ugadi celebration organized by VATA and extended his warm greetings to all on the occasion of Ugadi 2022 Hindu New Year. Hon'ble Raj Chouhan, Speaker of Legislature Assembly of BC and Hon'ble Mike Hurley, Mayor of City of Burnaby also attended celebration of Ugadi and conveyed their greetings to all. Children of Diaspora presented dance performances.

On the occasion of birth anniversary of Babasaheb Ambedkar on 14 April, 2022, the following dignitaries proclaimed 14 April as “Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Equality Day”:

Tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar

 Consulate General of India, Vancouver, in collaboration with Chetna Association of Canada, organized a ceremony and paid floral tributes to the bust of B.R.Ambedkar on the occasion of AmbedkarJayanti2022. The ceremony was held in Library, Simon Fraser University, Burnaby Campus. Consul General Manish spoke on Babasaheb’s monumental contribution for social justice & writing of the Indian Constitution and paid floral tribute to the bust of Babasaheb Ji. General Secretary of Chetna Association of Canada in his speech highlighted Babasaheb’s many contributions for equality and paid tribute to him. Dr. Deanna Redder of English Department and Indigenous Studies (SFU), Ms. Moninder Lalli, Librarian(SFU) and Mr. Harsh Tahokre of Thakore Charitable Foundation, and leaders of other community associations and Diaspora also paid floral tributes to Babasaheb. The Bronze Bust of Dr. Ambedkar was installed at Simon Fraser University in 2004.

 Consul General Manish visited KDS Sikh Temple in Victoria on April 12, 2022 met the board members and  conveyed greetings on the occasion of Vaisakhi. Consulate General Manish also  presented a special edition of book on Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s life and teachings. Foundation stone laid on 21 May 1912, it is one the oldest Sikh Temple in BC.

During the interactive session, he informed the community about developments in New India, India-Canada relations, Amrit Mahotsav plan and answered queries on consular matter.

 Consulate General Manish had a productive visit to Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo and had detailed discussion with Vice-Chancellor and her team on opportunities in Education & Skill sector in India. Mr. Manish  presented and pitched that Vancouver Island University should work with invest india team. CG also interacted with Indian students in Department of Management and briefed them on various program and policies of Consulate general of India, Vancouver.
