Independence day Celebration

The 76th Independence day of India was celebrated at the Consulate on 15th August, 2022 in the presence of Consulate officials and staff members. Members of  ex-servicemen from the Indian Ex-Servicemen Society of B.C. Canada also graced the occasion. Consul General Mr. Manish read the President of India’s address to the Nation on the occasion. The event was streamed live on Facebook page.

Proclamations Issued to declare 15 August 2022 as
"Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav day"

Consul General Mr. Manish would like to thank the Mayors and City Councillors of New Westminster, Victoria, Calgary, Surrey, Nanaimo and Burnaby for issuing a special proclamation to declare 15 August 2022 as "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav day".

Independence day Celebration

Consul General Mr. Manish hosted a reception on 15 August 2022 to celebrate 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence. Mr. George Chow, Minister of State for Trade, Ministry Jobs, Economic Recovery and Innovation, Government of BC, was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Mr. Raj Chouhan, Speaker, Legislative Assembly of BC, Mr. Randy Weekes, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Mr. Anne Kang, Minister of Advance Education & Skills Training, Government of BC along with a number of Member of Parliaments, Members of Legislative Assembly of British Columbia and City Counsellors graced the event. The reception was attended by several Consul Generals, Honorary Consuls and members of the Consular Corps as well as leading members of the Indo-Canadian community, ethnic media, cultural and business organizations, academicians and friends of India. The dynamic cultural programme performed by artists from Mudra School of Dance, Spirit of Dance Academy, Folk Star Arts Academy and Shaimak Davar International Inc Group enthralled the guests.

Amrit Mahotsav Concert

To celebrate 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence to commemorate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Consulate General of India in Vancouver, in collaboration with Naad Arts Centre, Surrey, organized “Amrit Mahotsav Concert" at Michael J. Fox Theatre, Burnaby, on August 16, 2022. Mr. Raj Chouhan, Speaker, Legislative Assembly of BC, Mr. Randy Weakes, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, Mayor Mike Hurley, City of Burnaby, Ms. Jinny Sims, Member of Legislative Assembly, Government of British Columbia, Councillor Sav Dhaliwal, City of Burnaby, along with a number of Member of Parliaments, Members of Legislative Assembly of British Columbia and City Counsellors attended the event. Consul General Manish in his welcome remarks said that the Amrit Mahotsav concert was a celebration of rich and diverse cultural heritage of India, which Consulate has organized under “Jan Bhagidari“ (peoples participation) mode partnering with talented artists in Greater Vancouver Area. The Concert was attended by over 600 people including several Consul Generals, Honorary Consuls and members of the Consular Corps as well as leading members of the Indo-Canadian community, ethnic media, cultural and business organizations, academicians and friends of India.

Independence day Celebration by ICCA Saskatoon

Indian diaspora in City of Saskatoon in Saskatchewan Province led by ICCA Saskatoon celebrated 75th anniversary of Independence in the presence Dr Krishan Lal, Professor (Emeritus) at University of Saskatchewan as Chief Guest and Mr. Brad Redekopp, Member of the House of Commons of Canada as Guest of Honour at Civic Square on August 15th, 2022. The event was followed by cultural performances from by Saskatoon Bridge City Bhangra , Nehi Shah from Usask and Tushita Chanda.

Independence day Celebration by City of Calgary

In City of Calgary, 15 diaspora organizations joined hands to celebrate 76th Independence Day at the plaza in front of City Hall on August 15th, 2022, Monday. More than 3,500 people filled the square to take part in the event. The celebration was attended by Dignitaries and politicians who spoke about the importance of the anniversary of independence in 1947, followed by cultural performances from Calgary’s diverse Indian community.

Independence day Celebration by City of Surrey

The Indo Canadian Community in Surrey led a ‘Tiranga Yatra' Flags Car Rally, on 14 August from Surrey Hindu Mandir to Abbotsford Hindu Mandir to Hope Gurukul. This was part of the celebrations of 75 anniversary of Independence Day of India.

Independence day Celebration by City of Regina

Indian diaspora in City of Regina in Saskatchewan Province led by India Canada Association of Saskatchewan celebrated 75th anniversary of Independence in the presence Honorable Laura Ross, Minister of Parks, Culture and Sports, Regina, Mr. Gary Grewal, MLA for Regina Northeast , Andrew James Scheer, Member of House of Commons, Mr. Mark Docherty, MLA Regina Coronation Park, Nicole Sarauer, MLA Regina Douglas Park, Mr. Trent Wotherspoon, MLA Regina Rosemont and Muhammad Fiaz, Member of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building on August 15th, 2022. It's for the first time in history that India’s Independence Day was celebrated inside the Saskatchewan Legislative Building. The event was followed by cultural performances like classical dance and singing.

Charar-i-sharif counts amongst the most sacrosanct Muslim shrines in India. It is situated approximately 40 km from Srinagar, enroute to Yusmarg. A wooden shrine, the Charar-i-sharif is approximately 600 years old. Popularly known as the Hazrat Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Wali, the shrine was built to commemorate Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani, a Sufi saint.

Alfred Park, Allahabad
Alfred Park is a must visit tourist destination in the city of Allahabad. Apart from the fact that Alfred Park is the largest park in Allahabad, it has historical significance as well. The park is marked by huge statue of George V and Victoria that were installed in the very center.
