Consulate General of India, Vancouver was pleased to participate in the celebrations of International Day of Yoga 2022 organized by Aarogya Canada on 11 June, 2022 at Hindu Temple Burnaby. Yoga practitioner Nutan Thakur hosted the Yoga Protocol asanas demonstration. Consul Manjish Grover from Consulate General of India, Vancouver, attended the celebrations.

A milestone was achieved on June 13, 2022 at Simon Fraser University (SFU) when Indian Council for Cultural Relations(ICCR) and Simon Fraser University signed Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of the ICCR Chair of Indian Studies at SFU funded by Indian Council For Cultural Relations. Consul General Manish signed the MoU on behalf of ICCR and President and Vice-Chancellor Joy Johnson on behalf of SFU. It is a great collaborative model between ICCR and SFU for academic partnership between India and Canada.

Premier Jason Kenney, Minister of Jobs, Economy and Innovation Doug Schweitzer, Minister of Health Jason Copping, Minister of Infrastructure Prasad Panda, President of the University of Calgary Dr. Ed McCauley, CEO of Mphasis Nitin Rakesh, announced an innovative partnership with the University of Calgary, the University of Alberta and the University of Lethbridge to establish a world-class quantum science technology hub in Alberta to further diversify the economy and create jobs. Indian IT company Mphasis is partnering with Government of Alberta and University of Calgary to set up quantum science technology hub.

Thank you Honourable Mr. Ravi Kahlon, Minister of Jobs, Economic Recovery and Innovation of British Columbia for inviting Consul General Manish for a meeting in his office at Canada Place on June 17, 2022. Discussion was focused on enhancing BC economic engagement and restoring it to pre COVID level and to work together in areas such as  agritech, cleantech, hydrogen, IT and resources which will further strengthen India Canada bilateral ties.

Consulate General of India, Vancouver in association with Vedic Hindu Cultural Society (Lakshmi Narayan Mandir) Surrey, celebrated 8th International Day of Yoga today. Yoga Gurus M. Taranaa M. Kaur, HappYness Wellness Yoga and Ms. Nutan Thakur, Aarogya Canada and Mr. Suman Kollipara, Peace Tree Innovation hosted and demonstrated Yoga Protocol Asanas. Around 150 people including Hon. Mr. Sukh Dhaliwal, MP and Hon. Mrs. Jinny Sims, MLA, participated in the International Day of Yoga 2022 celebrations. Consul Shri Manjish Grover in his speech welcomed Hon. Sukh Dhaliwal, Honourable Mrs. Jinny Sims, Yoga Gurus and other people who participated in IDY 2022 celebration. He also thanked the Media partners- Zee TV Canada, Times of Canada and Sanjha TV for partnering with the Consulate for celebration of IDY 2022. Consul Rahul Negi presented mementos to the Yoga Gurus who partnered with the Consulate to celebrate IDY 2022.

Consul General Manish participated in the celebration of 8th International Day of Yoga organized by India-Canada Cultural Association Saskatoon in association with Shri Lakshmi Narayan Temple - Hindu Society of Saskatchewan on 19 June, 2022. Yoga instructors Punam, Dinesh and Neeru conducted the multiple Yoga Protocol asanas. Around 30 Yoga enthusiastic attended the Yoga session.

Consul General Manish visited Canadian Light Source, a national research facility of the University of Saskatchewan located in Saskatoon on June 21, 2022. Canadian Light Source is Canada's national synchrotron light source facility. During the visit, Consul General Interacted with researchers and learnt about great work being done in this facility in areas of Health, Agriculture, Environment and Materials.

Swami Satya Prakash and Dr. Preeti Mishra, Yoga practitioners, conducted Yoga Protocol asanas. Consul Manjish Grover in his speech thanked Hindu Temple Burnaby for celebrating International Day of Yoga 2022 in association with Consulate. He also presented mementoes to Swami Satya Prakash and Dr. Preeti Mishra for hosting online Yoga sessions as Curtain Raiser program of IDY 2022. Speaker of Legislative Assembly of BC Hon. Mr. Raj Chauhan; Mayor of Burnaby Hon. Mike Hurley and five Councillors of City of Burnaby graced the occasion. Around 80 yoga enthusiastics attended the event.

Hornbill Festival - Nagaland
Hornbill is the name of a bird that has been depicted and respected by the Nagas for ages. The folklore and songs sung during the entire Hornbill Festival Nagaland depict the importance of this bird. The feathers of the bird were used to decorate the headgears of the people and warriors of Nagas. It is also known as Nek Chand’s Rock Garden after its founder Nek Chand, a government official who started the garden secretly in his spare time in 1957.
