Acting High Commissioner Mr. Manish had a meeting on 23 September with four Ministers of Alberta Government namely, Hon Tanya Fir, Minister of Jobs, Economy, and Innovation; Hon Demetrios Nicolaides, Minister of Advanced Education; Hon Kaycee Madu, Minister of Labour and Immigration and Hon Prasad Panda, Minister of Transportation in Calgary. The wide-ranging discussions focused on creating pathways between India and Alberta in further enhancing our engagement in trade, investment, higher education, mobility of skilled labor including nurses, R & D and innovation.

Acting High Commissioner Manish met with Premier of Alberta Hon Jason Kenney in Calgary on 23 September. Premier Kenny is a strong supporter of stronger bilateral ties between India and Canada and during conversation he gave his perspectives on the way forward for stronger relationships especially in area of trade, investment and economic engagement. In attendance was Hon Prasad Panda, Minister of Transportation of Alberta. Alberta is home to large number of professionals Indians, with Indian tech companies, like Mphasis and Infosys and Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) making substantial investment in Alberta.

As part of the ongoing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Consulate General of India in Vancouver organized “Varishth Yoddha” event to honour and felicitate veterans of Indian Armed Forces on 23 September 2022 in Calgary to recognize the veterans over 75 years of age for, their service to India. The event was attended by Acting High Commissioner of India to Canada Shri Manish, Chief Guest for the event Hon. Mr. Prasad Panda, Minister of Transportation, Government of Alberta; and Guests of Honor Hon. Ms. Leela Sharon Aheer, Member of Legislative Assembly, Hon. Ms. Rajan Sawhney, Member of Legislative Assembly, Hon’ble Mr. Devinder Toor, Member of Legislative Assembly, Hon. Mrs. Jyoti Gondek, Mayor of Calgary. In addition, leaders of the Indian community associations, members of Ex-Servicemen Associations and representatives of ethnic media also attended the event with the latter also covering the event for the local media. Over 300 guests, which included over 106 veterans graced the occassion

Consulate General of India, Vancouver participated in the 5th Vancouver International Travel Expo on 17th September at Vancouver Convention Centre showcasing Incredible India, tourism and travel to India. The Consulate opened a booth at the Expo. A number of stakeholders in the travel and tourism industry, namely travel agencies, tour operators, hotels, cruise lines, air charters etc. participated in the Expo. There was very good interest shown by the public and industry stakeholders in the Consulate’s booth promoting Incredible India.

Hindi Diwas 2022

Hindi Diwas 2022 was organized on 16 September 2022 in the Consulate General of India. Consul Shri Manjish Grover talked about Hindi Divas and the relevance of Hindi. The employees of Consulate participated with great enthusiasm in the essay, poetry and singing competitions organized on this occasion. The winning employees were awarded citations and prize money by Consul Shri Rahul Negi and Consul Shri Manjish Grover.

During the visit of Consul General Manish to Whitehorse on September 8, 2022, bilateral cooperation in trade, tourism, economic cooperation, and investment issues was high on the agenda. CG had a wide-ranging discussion at the Chamber of First Nation where members of the First Nation Chamber, Whitehorse Chamber of Commerce, and Chamber of Mines and government officials were present.

They are grouped into three categories based on their orientation: the Western group, the Eastern group and the Southern group of temples. These are dedicated to both Hindu deities and Jain figures.Khajuraho’s four Jain temples lie among the Eastern group. These include the Adinath, Shantinath, Parshwanath and Ghantai temples, which were constructed during the reign of the Chandela rulers.

SPIRITUAL ESCAPES IN INDIA
Padmanabhaswamy Temple

 Located within the precincts of the East Fort, the Padmanabhaswamy Temple is famous for its stone carvings and mural paintings. Lord Vishnu reclining on Anantha, the serpent, is the presiding deity in this temple, which is considered to be among the 108 sacred shrines, or Divya Desams of Lord Vishnu in India. According to the Hindu holy text of the Bhagwat Gita, Lord Krishna's elder brother, Balarama visited this temple, which is a confluence of Dravidian and Kerala architectural styles. It is believed that the temple has a mysterious vault that cannot be opened by any human being. It is said that if people attempt to do so then catastrophes would follow in the temple premises, around it or across India. Only those who profess to follow the Hindu code can enter this temple and there is a dress code as well.
