Seeking Nominations for 6th Editions (60th to 65th) of Know India Programme (KIP)

Know India Programme (KIP) is a flagship initiative for diaspora engagement which familiarizes Indian-origin youth (18-30 years) with their Indian roots and contemporary India, through a 25 days orientation programme organized by the Ministry of External Affairs of Indiawith 10 days visit to one or two State(s). Punjab is the partner State for the Indian Diaspora in Canada. Preference is given to Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) from Girmitiya countries as well as participation of Indian Diaspora youth from other countries with large PIO population such as Canada. A maximum of 40 Indian Diaspora youths are selected for each programme and provided full hospitality in India. 90% of the total cost of international airfare is also paid by the Ministry of External Affairs of India. The entire process of applying, processing etc. is through KIP portal(kip.gov.in).

  1. Main elements of KIP:
  2. Understanding of India’s political system, economy, society, developments in various sectors, etc.
  3. Visit to places of historical, culture, religious importance
  4. Familiarization with art, music and culture of India
  5. Visit to industrial sites
  6. Visit to a village
  7. Interaction with non-profit organizations
  8. Meetings with senior leadership / officials in India
  9. Visit to a select State in India for 10 days
  10. Arrangements:
  11. The Ministry of External Affairs will take care of participants only for the duration of the program. If participants wish to arrive in India early or stay extra, they will have to make their own arrangements
  12. The participants are provided local hospitality e.g. boarding / loading in budget hotels and internal transport in India.
  13. Missions will arrange for return air tickets before participants leave for India, after getting 10% of total air fare from them
  14. Gratis visa shall be granted to selected participants by the Indian/Missions/Posts abroad
  15. Eligibility Criteria:
    1. Non-Resident Indians are not eligible for KIPs.
    2. Previous participation: The applicant should not have participated in any previous KIP or internship Programme for Diaspora Youth (IPDY) or Study India Programme of MEA.
  • Those who have not visited India before will be given preference.
  1. Educational Qualification: Minimum qualification required for participating in the KIP is graduation from a recognized University / Institute or enrolled for graduation.
  2. Language: The applicants should be able to speak in English, should have studied English as a subject at the High School level or have English as the medium of instruction for undergraduate course.
  3. Duration: 25 days (excluding international travel) with 10 days in the partner State. The 25 days period includes the date of arrival and departure.
